Trip to the Alpujarras

 

A visit to the rustic villages of the Alpujarras mountains: Bubion, Pampaneira, Capileira, the Alpujarras that Pedro Antonio de Alarcón never got to visit but Gerald Brenan and Virginia Woolf did; Trevélez, the highest village in Europe, also reputed for its cured ham; the tiny villages of Ferreirola and Atalbeitar; the wine festival of Cadiar, where wine actually flows from the village fountain and there is free beer and paella for everyone.

Activity goal

To know this interesting and rustic part of the Sierra Nevada which has the highest villages and paths in Europe, (closest to the sky!); the area featured in  South of Granada, the famous book by Gerald  Brenan.

Place:

Various places and villages (Pampaneira, Capileira, Trevélez...) in the Alpujarras, within the National Park of Sierra Nevada.

Duration:

1 day excursion (9:00- 20:00).
