The festival, now in its fifth year, is a collaboration with Castila (Spanish language school of Albaicin, Granada), and last year attracted 56 young musicians from major conservatories and music programs around the world. They came to Granada to specifically study and perform Spanish Song with our distuingished faculty that includes, Teresa Berganza, Miguel Zanetti, Jorge Robaina, Juan Antonio Alvarez Parejo, Jose María Gallardo del Rey and Festival director, Nan Maro Babakhanian . The Flamenco faculty , Juan Miguel Gimenez Miranda and Antonio Vallejo are pioneers and advocates of teaching the art to the younger generation in Granada, and bring the best talent from Granada to perfom and teach with them during the festival. The nightly programming aslo features faculty recitals and participant concerts that mostly free to the public, one of which was a special concert of Latin American Songs performed by Anna Tonna Brown, Mezzo Soprano, Francisco Roldan, Guitar and Alex Woo, Piano. The festival culminates in four public masterclasses where Teresa Berganza teaches participants chosen to present a vast and varied selection of art song in Spanish - including some Zarzuela!
